The Dord of Darien

Musings from the Mayor of the Internet

The post whose name shall not be spoken

So I applied for this job a while back as a baseball analyst for Fangraphs — which I had no expectations of getting, mind you, but, hey, e-mail’s free. And, sure enough, I didn’t get it. The more interesting thing to me is the guy they did hire instead of me: Jonah Keri.

I gotta say, guys, you made the right goddamn decision. If I had the option, I’d fire me from writing for this site and hire Jonah Keri instead. Jonah Keri is one of my favourite baseball writers. Today, he’s written this article about the A’s; at least, it’s about the A’s at first, and then sort of degenerates into theorising about defense and park effects at the end. Which is something I like about Keri — he’s not afraid to wander. I appreciate that.
