I agree with Roberta: Phantasmagoria was about demons from hell torturing innocent people who think they’re going to do something fun. That is pretty representative of Williams’ game design career.

Do you know what else Joe West should do? Not grant time out to players who ask for it if he’s so pissy about games taking so long. One of the other things that is unique about baseball is that players cannot actually call a time out. They can only request time from the umpires, and the umps are 100% free to deny such requests.

So yeah Joe West. If you think players are taking too fucking long, stop granting time outs to them.

To be fair, I was pretty excited a few years ago when Hank Steinbrenner took over the ownership duties of the Yankees, because as a Red Sox fan, it had become too awkward to hate on George anymore because he was pretty much gone in the head by that point. It’s pretty hard to work up a decent hate for a senile old man.

And anyway, I sort of thought George had died already, anyway. When I found out this morning that he had died, I was like “What, again?”
